Crane lifting the 20-metre Hero UFO into position on The Fall Guy set.

Film Production / Large-Scale Scenic Construction

THE FALL GUY · UNIVERSAL PICTURES | 2024

Hero UFO · Technical Designer

A 20-meter cinematic object that began with little more than a dimensional brief.

I developed the complete construction system: scaffold geometry, ballast, structural interfaces, formers and CNC-cut outer skins, allowing the UFO to be fabricated at ground level, lifted into position, cantilevered approximately nine meters and rapidly installed on location.

The challenge was not simply drawing the object. It was developing a build and installation system that allowed something visually outrageous to be fabricated, transported, lifted and assembled with exceptional ease.

Hero UFO installed on location — cantilevered and ready.
The Fall Guy film still — kiss against an explosive cinematic backdrop.

The site should get the easy version.

An unreasonable idea, followed by the question:
“Right. How do we actually build it?”

Seen enough? Let’s build something.
