Vivid Sydney 2019

Robot SPACELand

Robot Spaceland was a large-scale immersive installation and narrative-driven light show created for Vivid Sydney.

I conceived, directed, and delivered the entire experience—combining sculpture, robotics, lighting, projection, and sound into a cohesive nine-minute space opera.

The project featured a 20-metre robot, over one kilometre of addressable LED, and a fully timecoded show system—executed across 21 nights for an audience of over two million people.

Overview

Experience Breakdown - Created and directed a fully original narrative-driven show from concept through to delivery - Designed and produced a nine-minute timecoded experience integrating light, sound, and motion - Directed a multidisciplinary team of 22 across fabrication, lighting, AV, rigging, and control systems - Delivered large-scale sculptural elements including a 20m robotic structure and floating barge installation - Integrated over 60,000 addressable LEDs across the installation - Programmed and operated synchronised show control systems using DMX and Art-Net - Managed complex logistics including off-site fabrication, marine transport, and crane-based installation - Coordinated with Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority and multiple stakeholders to deliver safely at scale

Closing

Robot Spaceland demonstrates my ability to originate and deliver large-scale immersive experiences that combine narrative, technology, and physical spectacle.

Performed across 21 nights as part of Vivid Sydney, the project reached an audience of over two million people—proving both creative impact and delivery at scale.

This is where I operate: at the intersection of story, engineering, and live experience.
